Since 1986, the IFL Australian center has donated 1,682,010 mls of insulin, 703,660 blood glucose test strips, 1.6 million syringes, glucose monitors, insulin pens and needles, lancets and lancing devices, and other items. These have been donated to 75 countries, in all the 7 IDF Regions, and are valued at US$6,106,863. This volume of insulin can keep alive 45,000 peoplefor 3 months, based on 150 ml required per year per person.

A few months supply may be all that is needed, giving a person time to again obtain ongoing supplies.

IFL Affiliates exist in several countries (see above and at Contact Us). Volumes being distributed are increasing, and there is great potential for the further growth of the number of independent and affiliated collection and distribution centres . Instead of otherwise being wasted, unneeded supplies are now saving lives. We should ensure such medicines are not wasted!

Countries in all International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Regions www.idf.org have been supplied, in cooperation with Diabetes Associations, the IDF, diabetes clinics, physicians and educators, and non-government organizations, including Service Clubs. Individuals and organisations in a number of countries contribute towards for the operating costs, which are only 5-10% of the value of the supplies.
