Just One Story

JUST ONE STORY....

Here is a description of the situation facing people with diabetes in many countries and whom we assist, given to us by the President of the Cambodian Diabetes Association, Dr Lim Keuky:

SOKHANN, age 50, mother of 6 children (the youngest 10 years old), can now rely only on her husband’s earnings from his  ice-cream vending bike in Srok Chhlong, Kratie province (315 km from the capital Pnom Penh).

Hurricane Katrina

Following an urgent request from dLife USA, the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the American Diabetes Association, Insulin For Life Australia sent two lots of insulin and other supplies from Australia and arranged for supplies to be sent from Insulin For Life affiliates in the UK and Germany.

Tsunami Relief

Following urgent requests, IFL Australia, IFL Germany and IFL UK have successfully sent insulin, test strips and other diabetes supplies to established and trusted networks at the Diabetes Association of Sri Lanka and distribution immediately to 2 General Hospitals in Galle and Matara in the south and others in the east - some of the worst areas affected by the Tsunami.

Supplies are being sent on an ongoing basis to the Diabetes Association of the Maldives. We are committed to sending supplies regularly for up to 2 years and then we will review the needs.
